The town lies 50 miles north of Dundee and just 15 miles south of Aberdeen.
There are two routes you can take to Stonehaven from the south. The first is the coastal route, which if you wish will take you past Dunnottar Castle, the War Memorial and offer views of the harbour - not to be missed if you are coming from the south! Stonehaven is well signposted on the A92 road.
The A90 dual carriageway will also take you to Stonehaven which is well signposted.
If you are coming to Stonehaven from the north, take the A90 southbound. Stonehaven is 15 miles south of Aberdeen city. The first turn-off (signposted) will take you to the centre of Stonehaven.
Stonehaven is well served by train and bus. A bus service runs almost every hour to and from Aberdeen, though less frequent on a Sunday.
